Grunge Glam.

Happy Saturday!!

Whilst watching Gossip Girl the other night I was inspired by this grunge/glamour makeup that the character Jenny was wearing, so I quickly took a few screen grabs (see below) and knew I wanted to try re-creat this makeup look on the weekend.

So here is the finished look I re-created with a break down of the products used.

Benefit Porefessional

Rimmel - Brow This Way

Happy Monday loves!

Monday is usually a day I dread beyond belief. But today I've actually had a day off work as my best friend from uni came down to stay for the weekend and it has been so nice not to have that usual awful Monday feeling! I've just waved her off which is always sad, so I thought I'd cheer myself up with a bit of blogging.

After watching numerous YouTube tutorials where the girls used an eyebrow gel I thought it was about time I tried one for myself. I debated getting the Benefit Gimme Brow or the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel but seeing as I hadn't tried one before I didn't want to splash out in case I wasn't thrilled.

So a few weeks ago whilst browsing in Boots (shock!) I noticed the Rimmel Brow This Way styling gel, which came in three different tint shades as well as clear and was just £3.99 a tube - just what I was looking for! After much deliberating between getting the tinted gel or clear I eventually decided to get the 'Dark Brown' gel.

Like most brow gels this comes in a small tube with a mascara style applicator. The dark brown shade is the perfect match to my hair colour - not too ashy or black, I always have trouble with dark brown products looking black! The formula is easy to work with, not too think or too runny, and the gel doesn't dry too quick giving you plenty of time to work with it.

My only negative with the product I found is the applicator, the brush is just too big for brows. The first time I used this I went straight in running this through my brows and well, let's just say hello Scouse brow!! I ended up covering in half the skin around my brows and ended up making such a mess. I've since realised that as the brush is so big this needs to be really lightly applied with a delicate and steady hand using just the tip of the brush, which when I'm in a rush in the morning never turns out well! Another tip is to wipe excess product off the applicator before trying to apply.

Overall, I love the formula of this product but I just wish the applicator brush was smaller to make this easier to use.  I have since looked at the applicator size of the Benefit Gimme Brow and its is half the size of this Rimmel one. However, for the £3.99 price tag you can't really complain!

What do you think of the Brow this Way?

Style #2

Hello Glamours!!

I've had to drop 'Sunday' from this weeks style post as unfortunately I was a bit hungover yesterday and it totally slipped my mind to post!!

This weeks style crush is the stunning Blake Lively who was at New York Fashion week. Blake always gets it right with her style choices - this probably comes from playing Serena van der Woodsen for so many years?!

I love her hair like this it's so effortless and chic. The monochrome outfit is minimalistic but striking and the shoes..swoon!!

Sunday Style #1.

Hello Glamours!

I've decided to start a new series on my blog called 'Sunday Style' where every Sunday (duh!) I will be posting my favourite look of the week. The looks are going to be anything that I've seen and loved, whether it's a celebrity or blogger or a fashion or makeup look.

So to kick off this series my favourite look from this week is of course Kim Kardashian - I am Kardashian obsessed (so expect to see them regularly appearing here!).

Firstly this week Kim cut her hair short which I think just looks amazing on her, she has such a stunning face and can really pull it off!  I love my hair long but it's made me even consider going for the chop!

On Saturday Kim then stepped out in a show stopping red two piece to a pre-Grammy party with Kanye West. I loved this look - the outfit, necklace, makeup and hair just worked so well together.

Drugstore Haul #1

Hello Glamours!!

Like all makeup lovers, there is nothing I love more than browsing the makeup aisles of Boots and Superdrug. I could literally spend hours looking at the new releases and deciding which shade of lipstick to pick.

As much as I love high end makeup you can find some complete gems in the drugstore, I honestly believe expensive makeup is not essential for a flawless look. Some drugstore products I actually prefer to the high end ones!!

Boots:

No7 Translucent Powder - £10.50

This No7 translucent powder has been on my wish list for a little while now. So when I found a £3 off No7 makeup voucher in my purse I knew it was time to get it! I had the powder for £7.50 instead of £10.50 - bargain!

Superdrug:

MUA Pro-Base Prime & Conceal - £4

I've been wanting to try some colour correcting concealers for ages so when I saw this little palette for £4 I thought it was a handy and inexpensive way to try it. I suffer badly with dark under eye circles so I'm looking forward to trying the yellow to try counter act them!

NYC Liquid Eyeliner - £2.99

I am obsessed with the makeup artist Amrezy (check out her Instagram - @amrezy - #girlcrush) and therefore any makeup she uses, I want. Ha ha. I am currently in the market for a new liquid eyeliner so when Amrezy mentioned she uses this NYC one to darken up her gel liner, for only £2.99 I knew it was going to be the next one I tried!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer - £4.99

I've been search EVERYWHERE for this concealer for the last month and every boots/superdrug/supermarket etc. has been completely sold out. It usually retails for £7.99 in most drugstores but I managed to find a tube of this in my local discounted beauty outlet (The Powder Room for anyone who lives in Swansea). It was priced at £4.99 and the bottle seems to be in German, I'm always dubious about buying from discount shops but I was so desperate for this concealer I couldn't leave it behind!

So that's what I picked up in my latest drugstore haul, I'm sure there will be another pretty soon :)

Let me know if you would like a see a full review of any of the products mentioned!
