Nails Inc Haul

The other week my mum came home and told me Nails Inc were having a one day sale for staff - Oh the perks of your mum working on a makeup counter in Debenhams - and that nails polished would be reduced to £5!! So we decided that's she would pick a couple and we would go halves.

I'm not sure why these polishes were on sale but I think it could be to do with the fact Nails Inc have now changed their bottles/packaging.  Mum picked up:

St Johns Wood- I've had this shade before and loved it but it went gloopy so we had to get a new one

Wellington Square - the most perfect summer shade ever

Colville Mews - a gorgeous putty colour which looks so classy on

Hyde Park Base Coat - I never tend to use a base coat so I was please mum picked this up for us too try!

As she bought four polishes we were given two further colours which were the Glamour magazine colours - these don't have names on them but ones a deep violet and the other a slate grey.

Clockwise from top - St Johns Wood (1 coat, 2 coats), Colville Mews (1 coat, 2 coats), Glamour Colour - deep violet (1 coat, 2 coats), Wellington Square (1 coat, 2 coats), Glamour colour - slate grey (1 coat, 2 coat).

I love the quality of Nails inc polishes, two coats is enough for the perfect smooth colour and so far I'm loving using a base coat - it makes removing so much easier. Like most nail polishes these tend to chip after around the 2 day mark - I've tried all 'chip resisitant' topcoats but I'm yet to find one that actually works.

As I'm talking Nails Inc I thought I'd throw in this express polish remover that I have been loving. I actually got this for Christmas and am impressed that it is still as good as new (I probably use this around twice a week). It's so convenient and mess/hassle free, it removes my nail polish so easily and isn't super drying on my nails.

What's your favourite nail polish?!

Dream Chasing: London School of Makeup

This last week I've slacked a bit with my blog posts but I promise it's all for good reason - I've been crazy busy getting ready for the next few weeks.

Tomorrow I will be heading to London for two weeks where I will be attending London School of Makeup to complete their '2 Week IMA Foundation Makep course'.

Words cannot explain how excited I am to finally train as a makeup artist. Makeup has been a passion and love of mine since I was around 15 and I've always known I wanted a career in the beauty industry. But for the last 8 years that dream took a back seat for me to go down the 'sensible' route of finishing school and getting a degree.

I completed my degree almost a year ago and went straight into a office based job but have never felt settled as becoming a makeup artist is forever on my mind.

So I booked the course, booked two weeks of work and have taken my first steps towards the career I really want.

I'll be staying up in London for the whole two weeks and will be taking along my new camera to document the whole trip. So expect posts dedicated to the course and some of my time in London!

I plan on Instagraming (a lot!!) through out my trip so follow me Here to keep up to date with me!

Check out the London School of Makeup

What is your dream job?! Have you been to the London School of Makeup?

Everyday Work Face

There is nothing I love more than spending a good few hours applying my makeup, trying out different techniques and testing new products, but on week day mornings I want my makeup on as quickly as possible so I can get out the door and into work.

I am not a morning person at all and will do anything for an extra few minutes in bed so have mastered getting my face on within 15 minutes without looking like a two year old did my makeup!

I like to keep my base pretty light and fresh, at the moment I'm loving the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in Soft Beige. It provides a medium coverage, which is easily buildable, and is very illuminating.  As we're going into summer I'm currently wearing the BareMinerals illuminating mineral veil powder, it has a lighter feel than my usuall Rimmel Stay Matte powder.

I don't tend to contour my face for work (who got time for that?!) so I just warm up my face using the Bourjouis chocolate bronzer and apply a baked blush, usually Makeup Revolution blushing hearts, to the apples of my cheeks.

I keep my eyes as simple as I can, I usually run some bronzer in the crease then apply a cream shadow to the lids - if I want to be a bit more 'put together' I'll add a slick of liquid eyeliner. A quick coat of mascara and highlighter and I'm usually good to go.

For my lips I tend to chuck on whatever I have at the bottom of my handbag which is usually a BareMinerals lipgloss of Nivea lip balm - nothing too much for work.

Ultimate Summer Glow.

For the last week the weather has been gorgeous here in the UK and it's really started to get me excited for Summer.

Although it isn't warm enough to get my summer clothes out yet, I am definitely starting to change my makeup for the Summer season.

I am obsessed with highlighters and love to have glowy/dewy skin all year round, but during the summer months I like to go for a more intense highlight.

So I have rounded up my top three, holy grail highlighters for the Summer season.

I am obsessed with gold/bronze toned highlighters for the warmer months, I love the way they look in the sun. These are three highlighters that I have used for years and will forever repurchase, so I just had to share them.

St. Tropez Skin Illuminator in Gold - £6 - HERE

Last year my friend bought me a St.Tropez fake tan kit which included this Skin Illuminator in Gold.  For a while I didn't use the Illuminator as I hadn't used a liquid/cream highlighter before and wasn't sure what to do with it, but I wish I'd started using it sooner it's gorgeous!

When first applied out of the tube the liquid looks more like a moisturiser than Illuminator but as you start to blend the product out it develops into a light golden shade. My favourite way to wear this is to either mix a drop into my foundation to create an all over glow or to dab onto my cheek bones, brow bone and bridge of my nose.
This is the lightest and not so 'in your face' highlighter of the three - I'm planning to take mine on holiday to dab a little on for round the pool!

Fake Bake - Beyond Bronze Shimmer Brick in Medium - £7.30 - HERE

I was first introduced to this highlighter a few years ago when Towie first started and I was obsessed with Billie Faires makeup.  I remember stalking her Twitter feed for weeks hoping she may mention what products she uses and one day she mentioned that her favourite highlighter to use on the show was the Fake Bake Beyond Bronze shimmer brick, so I headed straight to Boots to get my hands on it.

This highlighter is budget friendly at only £7.99 and is an amazing dupe for the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks - I have the BB shimmer brick in bronze and by far prefer the Fake Bake one.

As you can see above this is the 'bronziest' of the three highlighters and I definitely like to keep this for the Summer months. The brick consists of 5 shades which are super pigmented and shimmery - no chunky glitter or chalky texture. I usually like to apply this with a fan brush on the highest points of my cheeks bones, dust down my nose and on my Cupid's bow. For the last week or so I've been applying this lightly over the apples of my cheeks for a warmer, summery glow.

I haven't seen this in Boots recently but it can be found on Amazon, see link above.

Tip - I also love using this highlighter as an eyeshadow palette and find it so handy when I go on holiday as it doubles as a highlighter/bronzer/eyeshadow.

Estée Lauder Pure Colour Illuminating Powder Gelee in Heat Wave

I was so lucky to get my hands on the Estée Lauder Heat Wave highlighter when it came out two summers ago.  It is my favourite highlighter ever, the gold tone is so flattering on any skin tone.

I know this product is no longer available but their are lots of amazing dupes out their including the Kiko Water Sshadow in #208 in Light Gold -  HERE and its a snip of the price!

As the name says the texture of this powder is very gelee like, ultra light weight and feels like velvet.   Like the Fake Bake I like to use a fan brush to apply this over the highest part of my cheekbones' brow bone, bridge of my nose and cuspids bow. I use this highlighter all year round but tend to apply a bit more in the summer for a more intense glow.

Tip - spray your brush with either some MAC fix plus or Urban Decay setting spray for a more intense colour.

L-R - St.Tropez Skin Illuminator in Gold, Estée Lauder Heat Wave and Fake Bake Beyond Bronze - Medium

These three highlighters I will forever repurchase and recommend - apart from Heat Wave, but I will forever be on a mission to find it's amazing dupes.  These will live in my makeup bag for the Summer season to give me the ultimate bronze goddess skin.

Let me know if you'd like to see my favourite all year round highlighters!

Have you ever tried these three and are you as obsessed as I am?!

Primark Haul #2

Whenever I go into Primark I just cannot leave empty handed. Half the time I end up coming out with a bag full of random stuff that I didn't really need but because of the price tag couldn't resist.

On my most recent trip into Primark I raided the jewellery section and here's what I came out with...

As much as I love my bling, chandelier earrings are my guilty pleasure, I've been really into wearing more minimalistic pieces lately especially as we're heading into Summer.

3 piece necklace - £3

I loved that you could wear these necklaces individually as well as layered.

Choker style necklace £1.50 - seen on me Here

Cubic zirconia square ring £1.50

This ring looks way more expensive than its price tag and I've been wearing mine on my middle finger for a bit of a change.
Tip - to stop your inexpensive rings turning your fingers a lovely green colour, before you wear them coat the inside with a layer of clear nail polish.

Jewelled studs £1.50

I have hundreds of these style studs from Primark as I find them a nice size for when I wear my hair up - not too in your face but still adding a bit of glamour.

Gold/turquoise earrings £1.50

Obviously I couldn't leave without having a quick look in the beauty section...

I am a big fan of Primark's 'natural' lashes which for £1 are an absolute bargain, but after seeing the gorgeous Chloe Boucher (she's my new obsession, her makeup is amazing) wearing the 'Sultry' lashes I couldn't not give them a try.  I haven't worn them yet but when I do I'll make sure I share my thoughts.
Tip - I recommend not using the Primark own glue - I didn't find it very adhesive

The last thing I picked up was this stippling brush. The bristles are super soft, even though their synthetic, and I find this brush perfect for blending out concealer, cream contour and cream highlighter. I will definetly be picking up a few more of these when I'm next in Primark!!

Do you love Primark? Have any recommendations of their beauty products I should try?

The Body Coach 90 Day SSS Plan: Cycle 1

Happy Wednesday!!

I am so looking forward to this long weekend (Friday and Monday are public holidays here in the UK as its Easter) and am planning on spending most of it working on my blog. It's a bit of a different post from me today but a subject I want to start addressing more in my future posts.

For as long as I can remember I have always 'battled' with my weight. I have always been on the bigger size, feeling self-conscious and embarrassed by the way I looked.

I have constantly been on and off diets since I was around 14 years old, I'd loose half a stone and then put it back on and couldn't seem to stick to anything long term.

Over the years I've tried everything from slimming clubs, meal replacement shakes, calorie counting and just eating chicken and broccoli - yuk! But none of these I could stick too long term, I either felt too deprived or wasn't happy with the results I was getting so would fall off the bandwagon.

After a very overindulgent Christmas, I joined a slimming class in January where in the six weeks of being there all I lost was 2lb. This slimming class encouraged me to eat 'free foods' such as pasta, sugary yogurts and cereal bars - none of this helped me loose weight and in fact made me feel worse than when I started. I was filling my body with processed rubbish instead of real food.

Finding Joe
So one day whilst scrolling through Instagram feeling at my wits end, worrying about the looming summer and the thought of getting in a bikini, I came across Joe Wicks aka 'The Body Coach'.  Initially I thought it was going to be another fad diet like the ones I had tried in the past where you eat nothing and have to spend hours in the gym. But I was amazed by the transformation pictures he posted, I liked the fact that these were normal people making amazing changes to their bodies, it made me feel maybe I can finally make these changes to my body.  Within a day of finding Joe on Instagram I had signed up to the 90 day plan.

Getting Started
Once you sign up and pay for your plan a detailed questionnaire is sent which asks detailed questions about your current diet, health and exercise routine.  The 90 days is split up into three monthly cycles - Cycle 1 (Shift), Cycle 2 (Shape) and Cycle 3 (Sustain).  I received my Cycle 1 plan within 3 days of submitting my questionnaire and on the day you start the plan you must submit your weight, measurements and start pictures.

Cycle 1
When I initially received C1 I found the information daunting but after reading through the whole plan twice it soon all made sense and I was raring to go. Without going into too much detail, the plan includes recipes for high-carb and low-carb meal options, snack ideas and detailed exercise plans.

I love most healthy foods so I loved almost all the recipe options. I couldn't believe how much food I could eat to be burning fat!!  The meals were filling, tasty and didn't make me feel like I was on a 'diet' at all.

The exercise in C1 is HIIT training, short/intense bursts of exercise followed by the same amount of time rest (30 seconds on, 30 seconds off) for a total of 25 minutes. Joe recommends only doing HIIT for the first month but as I had already paid up for the month of boot camp classes I did boot camp 3x a week and at home HIIT 2x a week. Joe makes the HIIT really simple with how to videos which can be done at home.  Exercising 5x a week was tough at first, but I persevered and managed to keep it up for the full four weeks.

The hardest part about this plan for me was giving up the scales as it is recommended to step away from the 'sad step' and only weigh once a month. I used to jump on the scales a couple times a week and it would determine my mood for the rest of the day. The first two weeks I struggled with the feeling of needing to weigh but I stayed strong and it is honestly the best habit I've ever broken.

As I was feeling so low about my weight I decided I wanted to go the whole month with absolutely no cheats and no alcohol. I stuck the the plan 100% for the month, to see the maximum results my body could achieve.

Throughout the plan Joe and his dedicated team are on hand to provide support and answer any questions you have. I always got super speedy responses to my questions along with motivating and encouraging messages.

My Results
On Sunday I completed C1 and had my first weigh in. I was over the moon when I got on the scales to see I had lost 7lb, 5cm off my waist, 5cm off my hips, 2cm off my chest, 1cm off each arm and 2cm off my legs. I have never obtained results like this from any other plan I've followed. I still have a very long way to go but my body has never felt so 'lean', my skin is clearer, my cellulites reduced and my mood has improved massively.

I am absolutely thrilled with the results I have got from C1 and cannot wait to begin C2. After submitting my results Joe asked if he could post my testimonial to Instagram. At first I didn't not want to as I am no where near having a lean body but I want to motivate all the normal girls out their and let them see the changes that can be made to our bodies. So below is my results picture and testimonial (can't believe I'm posting this eeek!)

Cycle 2
I just received my C2 plan this morning so tonight is going to be full of meal planning and prepping for the next few days! In this cycle I will start incorporating weights into my workouts, which I'm really excited about!!!

In a months time I will be following up with with a review of C2 and the results I have achieved.

If anyone is thinking of signing up with Joe I urge you too! This plan is life changing, it has educated me to get out of the calorie counting trap and step away from the scales. I cannot thank Joe and his team enough for the support and encouragement I have received in C1 - I am now ready to smash C2!  Summers coming sign up before it's too late ;)!
