Barely Nude

On Saturday night I went out for a few drinks with my best friend to a couple of bars/clubs in Swansea. I see every time I go out as an excuse to buy a new outfit and this one was inspired by the stunning Sarah Ashcroft. When she posted this look I fell in love with the trousers and I already had a simular top, so technically I wasn't buying a whole new outfit!
I'm really impressed with the quality of these trousers as their only £18, I'm definitely going to be picking them up in all other colours as they were so comfy.

**Excuse the cat in the background, she insisted on making her blog debut!

Style: the Ultimate Summer Maxi

On Sunday I went out for a meal with my family to celebrate my birthday and Fathers Day. I hadn't planned on buying anything new but on the Friday when I saw Boohoo had next day delivery for £1.99, I ordered this maxi on a complete whim and ended up loving it.
I decided to get it in the rust colour as I have nothing of this colour in my wardrobe and felt it could be a different addition. I was surprised at how flattering this colour is, it really accentuates a tan which is great for summer. I bought a size 12 but found that it came up quite big especially around the boob area and in length - I just put on my highest heels for Sunday but I will definitely be getting this shortened.
I don't know why these photos are slightly blurry I think I may have touched some setting to my camera before taking these and please don't judge my expression this was my first outfit post so I felt pretty awkward posing haha!

Holiday Haul

Whilst I was in Puerto Banus there were a couple of days where the weather wasn't great. So one morning we decided to walk down to the port to have a look in all the shops.

Here's what I picked up whilst on my shopping trip.

I almost passed out with excitement when I realised there was a Sephora counter in the local El Corte Inglés and spent a good half hour browsing all that they had to offer before making my final decision.

**all prices are approximates, I lost my receipt so am not sure of the exact prices.

I couldn't not pick up one of Sephora's renowned Cream Lip Stains (€14). I didn't know what colour to go for and finally decided on 09 Watermelon Slice which is a gorgeous coral/red shade which I think will be perfect for summer.

Next I picked up the Sephora Lip Liner to Go in 02 Fresh Melon (€6). I've been looking for a coral lip liner for ages and this one is the perfect shade. It goes amazing with the cream lip stain I picked up and I've also been using it with Mac 'morange'.

Another product that's been on my wish list forever is the Make Up Forever HD Foundation (€42) but as you can't get it easily in the UK I've never been able to colour match myself, so this was another must for me to pick up. Trying to colour match myself was a bit difficult, the lighting in the shop was awful and the mirrors were tiny but I finally settled on shade 135. I think I will do an in depth review of this foundation but so far I really like it, the colour I think I could have gone for slightly darker around this time of year but it can easily be warmed up with some bronzer.

The last thing I picked up in Sephora was a Beauty Blender (€14), they had these piled up by the till so this ended up being a bit of an impulse buy. But I am so glad I tried this, I am now fully converted!

The lovely lady at the till also gave me and my friend a sample of a blush each which was super sweet!

Next I picked up these two bangles in a boutique which was next door to the supermarket near our hotel. When I saw these they instantly reminded me of the Cartier bangles the Kardashians/Jenners are always seen rocking, but at being thousands a piece these were more budget friendly. I picked up a silver and rose gold bangle which were only €10 each, I think they look way more expensive!

The final thing I picked up were these wedges, they were love at first sight. I'd seen them a few days prior and then couldn't get them off my mind so knew they had to be mine. These were in a boutique on the port underneath the nightclub Pangea.

I love how different these are too anything I ever see here in the UK. These were only €29 euros which were a complete bargain - they also came in turquoise and now I'm totally regretting not picking up both pairs.  I've already worn these numerous times in the week I've been home!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing what I picked up on holiday! Are you going abroad this year?

Mini Illamasqua Haul

Believe it or not when I was in London completing the MUA course I hardly bought any makeup!  I don’t know why this was; I had planned on raiding the Selfridges beauty hall but just didn’t get round to it.

When I did go shopping I spent most of my time in clothes shops stocking up on a summer wardrobe for my upcoming holidays (look book coming soon!).
We did however have a course trip to the Illamasqua boutique in Soho? One evening where they were offering a 20% off discount to the London School of Makeup students.  Over the first week I made up a list of products I had used in the school and wanted to pick up for myself.  I didn’t go crazy at all and here’s what I bought.

Before studying at LSM, translucent powder is something I shied away from and always overlooked.  I think the whiteness of the powder used to put me off, being a fake tan lover why would I then want to plaster white powder all over my face?!   I usually use Nars loose powder in Beach or Rimmel Stay Matte powder.  But oh my god since trying this Illamasqua powder I literally cannot use anything else.  It feels like silk on the skin, is ultra-lightweight and doesn’t leave a chalky/cakey look.  This powder would suit any skin tone – I used it on light medium and even dark skin.  I now can’t remember how I used to set my makeup without this.

This eye shadow is just the dream!! This is a matte shadow and on the website is described as a ‘rich chocolate plum’ shade but I would say it is more purpley than brown.  We all used to fight to use this shadow on the course, it works with every skin type and can be worn on its own or incorporated into a Smokey eye.   I fell in love with a number of the Illamasqua eye shadows but this one was my favourite.

I had also wanted to also pick up the Lip colouring pencil in Fantasy  and their pure pigment in ‘ore’.  The lip liner is the perfect pinky/brown, which I thought was very similar to the Charlotte Tilbury lip cheat in 'Pillow Talk' and I was absolutely gutted that they had sold out.

When I was paying the girl who served me had the most stunning eye shadow on which she told me was the Pure Pigment in Ore. I loved it so much and I thought I'd asked the girl for two, one for me and one for a friend.  But long story short (after a panic of thinking I'd lost one), I realised I had only bought actually bought one which I gave to my friend, so I definitely will be going to pick myself up one of these beauties!

What are your favourite Illamasqua products?
